Update your theme

When we release a new version of our themes, we strongly advise to update your theme in order to get the latest functionalities and compatibility.

If done correctly, updating your theme shouldn’t change your customisations (colours, text, fonts…).  However before updating your theme it is wise to make sure you have a current backup of your site including wp-content folder, wp-config.php file and .htaccess file and a copy of WordPress Database. And you should backup Tribe theme options.

There are 2 methods to update your theme:

Method 1 – Using WordPress Dashboard:

Step 1 – Download the latest theme package

Step 2 – Unzip the entire package after downloading.

Step 3 – Browse to Appearance > Themes and activate another theme.

Step 4 – Delete the theme you want to update.

Step 5 – Upload the zip of the new version of the theme (tribe.zip, or motivate.zip or hearten.zip).

Step 6 – Activate the new theme

Step 7 – Clear your browser’s cache, and update plugins cache (if you have caching plugins).

Method 2 – Using FTP:

Step 1 – Download the latest theme package

Step 2 – Unpack the entire package after downloading.

Step 3 – Unpack the theme zip file (tribe.zip, or motivate.zip or hearten.zip) .

Step 4 – Remove the tribe folder from your server ( /wp-content/themes/tribe ). For this you can use any FTP client, for example, FileZilla .

Step 5 – Upload non-zipped tribe folder to /wp-content/themes/ folder in your
WordPress installation folder on your server.

Step 6 – Clear your browser’s cache, and update plugins cache (if you have caching plugins).
